A few fun stories...

1.  I had a doctor's appointment one afternoon, and this is the note I received the next morning from the substitute teacher.

"(Boy) was very vocal today.  He did screaming, etc.  When corrected with a card pulled (2nd or 3rd time), he told me that I was the worst teacher ever. When I thanked him for telling me, he said that he wanted to poke me with a pencil."

Nice.

2.  After chapel, which is held in the cafeteria, we walked back to the classroom.  I am standing in the hallway holding open the door for my class to go in, and the second grade teacher says to me, "I just wanted to let you know that as you walked down the hallway, (Boy) licked the wall from the cafeteria to the gym.  When I told him to stop, he looked at me and said, 'what?'"

3. A student walks up to my desk this morning and tells me this story.
Boy: I swallowed a watch battery
Me: You did?  Like a real battery?
Boy: Yes, a little round watch battery, but it's ok because it came out yesterday.
Me: Oh.
Boy: My mom had to take me to the Poison Control Center.  We didn't have to stay there very long and we still made it to the movie on time.  We saw...

Edit: Same boy in the first two, but a different one in the third.

I think that's it for now.

I spend a lot of time in my classroom, so I thought you all might like to see some pics of it.  I think it is way cuter and more fun than last year.  Mom, Trisha, and I spent some time one Saturday making stuff that I will hopefully be able to use for a few years!

This is the view when standing in the doorway looking into my classroom.

This is where we spend a lot of time in the morning doing calendar, weather, days of the week, etc.  Mom drew the clown and the balls he is juggling have our classroom rules on them.

This is my job board.  Each of the kids is a "Lifesaver".  Trisha drew the roll of LifeSavers on the left. She even took the time to put aluminum foil on the edges!

I am currently making a new number line because I think that one is boring.  It's going to be a caterpillar and we will add one number each day to count the days we have been in school.  I think it's going to be incredibly cute!!!

And this is the front of my classroom. I made the balloons above the board and wrote the students' birthdays on them.  I think they are pretty cute!

And that's it.  That's where I spend almost every day of my life.  Feel free to come visit anytime.

To post or not to post?

I have been debating for awhile if I should start posting on Xanga again.  I have decided to give it a try.  Now, the question is, do I type a really long detailed post to let you all know what’s been going on in my life for the past year or just a quick post so everyone knows I am still alive?  Oh, the dilemma.  I guess we’ll just have to see how this goes and what ends up on here.  J

I have wanted to change my profile picture for quite some time, but if I did that then my name would move up to the top, and I did not want to give anyone false hope that I had posted.  Haha. J

October 2007:  I think this picture demonstrates what was going on in my life the last time I posted.  The twins were about 5 months old!

November 2007: Then I went with Mom, Dad and Kim to Michelle’s house for Thanksgiving.

December 2007: Everyone in the family came home for Christmas.  It was pretty much pure chaos the whole time.

January 2008:  In January, I drove up to Wisconsin to visit with my friend Marieke and some other friends who had flown up from Texas.  Of course, I had to go over and see Greg and Julie and the kids, too, since I was so close!  J  ( I must not have seen Michelle this month because I do not have a picture of me with the twins!)

February 2008:  This must have been a pretty boring month because I only took 5 pictures this month.  I am not even in any of them!!!

March 2008:  For Spring Break, Kim and I drove down and visited Michelle and family.  What a fun trip!  It was Kim’s birthday, so of course, we had to have a party!

(Apparently, sometime in the last couple months, I got my hair cut!)

April 2008:  In April, my nephew, Ian, was born!!!

May 2008:  In May, Michelle came up and the twins turned one and Kayla turned two.  Three birthdays in one party!  School ended this month, so I finished up my first year teaching Kindergarten at Emmanuel Christian Academy in Springfield!

June 2008:  Summer started and I headed up to Michigan to meet the newest member of Jen’s family!  I spent 8 days (I think) up there hanging out with them.

July 2008: In July, my friend, Erik, and I went to King’s Island.  It was a Tuesday and there were NO lines.  We rode every large roller coaster they had open.  It was lots of fun!

August 2008: My 25th birthday!  School started back up this month.  Mom, Trisha, and I spent some time making new decorations for my classroom, and then I spent a week putting them up!

September 2008:  Michelle and the kids came up for a whole week to visit!

October 2008:  School is definitely in full swing!  I have 15 students this year which is 4 more than last year.  That might not sound like a lot, but it has made a huge difference.  They are definitely a more challenging group!  I have started working at Old Navy in the evenings to make a little more money.  It is kind of boring, but not hard at all.

I think that’s about it!

amusing...

An amusing story...

I used the bathroom today right before I went out to get my students from lunch recess.  I was running a little late, so I used the restroom that was closest to my classroom.  This is a student restroom.  As I was walking out of the stall, a kindergartner, Sabrina, from another class was walking into a different stall.  She stops and says, "Oh, hi, Miss Edlund."  I say, "Hi, Sabrina."  She says, "You kind of scared me.  I thought you were a scarecrow."

Yeah...

a sad story...

Since Trisha mentioned that I had an "incident" on Sunday, I thought I would take a few minutes to tell about it and post some pictures.

I was on my way to church on Sunday and the car in front of me was turning into the McDonalds on South Limestone Street.  I saw his brake lights and slowed down.  He started to turn, so I assumed that he was going to continue turning.  Well, he slowed down more than I expected, and I had started to accelerate when he started to turn.  To make the story short, I hit him.  The front passenger side of my car hit the back driver side of his car. I was fine and the two guys in the other car were fine.  My car is not, but Dan, the car man, is fixing it for me.  I only have pics of my car, but that is what I will leave you with.
